Favorite Bike Routes in NW WI: Coppermine Road, Part 1 (Start at Lower Eau Claire Lake)
This ride begins at Mooney Dam Park, which is at the outlet of Lower Eau Claire Lake. Except for a couple miles of pavement at the beginning and end, it’s all on dirt or gravel surfaces. This area is fairly remote, cell coverage is spotty, and some parts of the route don’t see much traffic. Be prepared. (And be prepared, too, for some great scenery.)
Here are some of the roads you’ll see in Parts 1 and 2 of this video: East Mail Road, Coppermine Road, Coppermine Loop, East Coppermine Road, Jackpine Loop, and Cheever Road. You’ll also have lots of other options for side routes and variations.
Later, please check out some of my other bike and water videos from this area. And for more scenes of the park at this ride’s start and finish, check out my video “Another Dam Park in Gordon, Wisconsin.” It’s a Douglas County park located right at the outlet of Lower Eau Claire Lake. Farther upstream are Middle Eau Claire and Upper Eau Claire Lakes, which are also connected to Bony Lake, Birch Lake, and Robinson Lake. Downstream, the Eau Claire River joins the Saint Croix River at Gordon.

And by the way… If this seems like a neighborhood you’d like to call home, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d be glad to help you find the lake home or cabin of your dreams. www.JeanHedren.com Or, Download your free property search app.
