This 263-acre lake is conveniently located west of Minong and just a couple miles south of Highway 77.  It’s almost directly south from McLain Lake and North & South Twin Lakes.  It has a shoreline of 2.6 miles, a maximum depth of 26 feet, and a mean depth of 12 feet.  Secchi disk readings are around 13 feet.

In Matthews Lake, you’ll find muskies, northerns, walleyes, largemouth bass, and panfish.  Public access is from a landing at the northwest corner.

Most of Mathews Lake is ringed with cabins and lake homes that are available in a variety of sizes and price ranges.  Many of them have sandy waterfronts that are good for swimming.
