Pear Lake lies just south of Highway 77, about halfway between Webb Lake and Minong. Pear Lake covers 49 acres; it has a shoreline 1.4 miles and maximum depth of 32 feet. In it, you’ll find northern pike, walleye, bass, and panfish. (Pear Lake also had the advantage of being only a short distance from the Namekagon River.)
Since the highway runs along the north edge of Pear Lake, it doesn’t have quite the isolated, up-north feel that you’ll enjoy at other nearby lakes. The trade-off, however, is convenience—especially for weekenders driving up from the Twin Cities. If you’d like an affordable cabin that’s a shorter drive from Minneapolis or Saint Paul, then Pear Lake might be worth considering. Or… If you like the idea of a shorter drive but would prefer to be on a larger lake that’s a little farther off the highway, you still have lots of options.
