This clear, 172 acre lake is located in south-central Douglas County, WI. It has a sandy shoreline, a maximum depth of around 12 feet, and a mean depth of 7 feet. In it, you’ll find northerns, walleyes, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and panfish. Public access is limited; as a result fishing pressure is relatively light. The DNR stocks walleyes here in even-numbered years, and has stocked over 40,000 of them in Person Lake since 2000.
Except for a few marshy bays, most of Person Lake’s shoreline has been developed. Most of the lake homes for sale here are set back enough so they’re barely visible from the water. It’s a relatively quiet lake, and most of its homes are in the middle and upper price ranges. It’s rare that waterfront property become available on Person Lake.
Just to the east you’ll find Crystal Lake, which has a very different personality. It’s more heavily developed, more popular with recreational boaters, and not nearly as quiet. But if that’s the sort of up-north experience you’re looking for, Crystal Lake just might be the spot for you. Other nearby lakes include Cranberry Lake, Loon Lake, the Minong Flowage, Bond Lake, Leader Lake, and Whitefish Lake.
