This 719 acre lake is one of the most sought-after in southern Sawyer County. To find it on the map, follow Highway 70 east of Spooner or Highway 27 south from Hayward. The two will intersect near Stone Lake and Sand Lake. Now look to the south, and you’ll see Sissabagama and Little Sissibagama.
Sissabagama has a meandering shoreline of 8.2 miles, a maximum depth of 48 feet, a mean depth of 10 feet, and secchi disk readings of around 8 feet. Public access is via a boat landing on the lake’s western shore.
Although much of Sissebagama’s shoreline is dotted with cabins and lake homes, long stretches of shoreline remain undeveloped. That, combined with the meandering shoreline, gives this lake more of a wild, up-north feeling than one might expect. It’s part of the reason for this lake’s appeal; most lake homes and cabins on Sissebagama are in the middle to upper price ranges.
