Lower McKenzie Lake (Trego, Wisconsin)

This 185-acre lake is conveniently located near the western edge of Washburn County.  Although it’s located well downstream of Middle McKenzie and Big McKenzie Lakes, it’s actually a few miles north of the other two Lakes.

Lower McKenzie Lake has a shoreline of 2.9 miles, a maximum depth of 31 feet, and a mean depth of 18 feet.  Secchi disk readings are around 19 feet.  In it, you’ll find northerns, walleyes, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and panfish.  Public access is from a landing at the northeast corner.

Most of Lower McKenzie Lake’s western shore consists of low-lying wetlands that remain undeveloped.  Although the rest of the lake is dotted with cabins and lake homes available in a variety of sizes and price ranges, Lower McKenzie is still a relatively quiet lake that has a relatively wild, up-north feel.
