Middle McKenzie Lake (Trego, Wisconsin)

Middle McKenzie Lake is located just north of Big McKenzie Lake. At 530 acres, it’s a fair-sized lake itself. It has a shoreline of 4 miles, a maximum depth of 45 feet, and a mean depth of 20 feet. So like Big McKenzie Lake, it’s one of the deepest, coldest lakes in the Trego area. In it, you’ll find bass, northern pike, and panfish.

Although there’s a short boating channel between Big McKenzie Lake and Middle McKenzie Lake, the route from Middle McKenzie Lake to Lower McKenzie Lake involves a longer paddle down McKenzie Creek. One other detail that can be confusing for newcomers to the area: since McKenzie Creek flows northward toward the Namekagon River, Lower McKenzie Lake is actually to the north of Middle McKenzie Lake and Big McKenzie Lake. (All of these lakes, by the way, are located in the area just northwest of Trego.)
