Trego Lake (Trego, Wisconsin)

Trego Lake is located in central Washburn County; it’s just off U.S. 53 and just west of Trego.  A reservoir above a dam in the Namekagon River, it’s about 5 miles long but never more than ¼ mile wide.  So although Trego Lake has a surface area of only 451 acres, it has a meandering shoreline of 16.9 miles.  It has a maximum depth of 36 feet, a mean depth of 11 feet, and secchi disk readings of around 5 feet.  Public access is at three boat landings.

In Trego Lake, you’ll find northerns, walleyes, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and panfish.  Although parts of the lake are dotted with cabins and lake homes available in a variety of sizes and price ranges, much Trego Lake has a relatively wild, up-north feeling.  That’s especially true of the lake’s western half.
